May is Mental Health Awareness Month so our monthly theme this time is Mental Health. Many suffer, will suffer or have suffered from different kinds of mental illnesses, and many suffer alone and without any help or support, and might even be told that the therapy they need is for crazy people, which is not true. Everyone, who needs help, should feel it’s alright to get it without being judged. Because mental health is equally important as physical health! So, therefore, we want to take part in spreading awareness as well, but in the way we do best. By gaming! Join discussions on Twitter or Facebook in the tag #TGCMentalHealth, or join our LINE group!

December Game-along Theme

It’s been a while since we last had an event. The staff had life happen and what can you do about that? As far as I know, nothing. But we’re now back with a December theme that we think are a fun challenge for all.
The theme for December comes with a spirit of peace and is therefore no violence. Games that don’t qualify for this month’s theme are those with battle mechanics, as well as games that include a lot of and/or focus on violence. So no murder, torture, abuse, and the like. We’d love to see you choose games that aren’t visual novels, because we see a lot of games in other genres that have some element of violence, even if a cartoony version of it.
Join us in December with #TGCPeacefulDecember on Twitter and Facebook and let us know what game you will be playing. If you can’t think of any games that qualify, here are some examples for you:
  • Animal Crossing
  • Deemo
  • Flower
  • Harvest Moon
  • iO
  • Railroad Tycoon
  • Rollercoaster Tycoon
  • SimCity
  • The Sims (but maybe don’t kill your Sims though)
  • Thomas Was Alone

Thanks to members, staff and non-club members, I’ve compiled a list of a great mixture games that we feel fit the theme! I hope it’ll make it easier for all of you who want to join Mental Health Awareness Month Game Edition. This list includes a mixture ranging from depression and anxiety, to PTSD, psychological trauma, and reality distortion. And of course many other things! The list also includes games available in different languages, different prices, on different platforms and of different genres, so I’m sure there are games for almost everyone to play. Be warned though. Some of these games are of violent nature or may be disturbing in other ways, so not all of them are for everyone.

Join us in Mystery Month!

Hello everyone! We didn’t make a blog announcement about it last month, but we had a themed month during March, and it was Music. Although this is somewhat late (better late than never, right?), the club members voted for Detective/Mystery for April and if you want to join us, try finding a game that includes detectives and/or a mystery to solve or that is part of the story. We have a list to inspire you under the cut (at the end of this post)!

After choosing a game you can join in on LINE to talk about the game you’re playing or join in on social media with the hashtag #TGCMysteryMonth! We’d love if you let us know here on the blog, on Twitter or on Facebook if you’re joining in and what game you will be playing! Continue reading
